Currently my only equipment is a Nikon D3000 and its kit lens. Frankly, its balls and I wish I had never bought it. It’s low light performance is dire. ISO settings above 400 are so grainy that they are unusable. If you are buying a DSLR and are trying to spend as little money as possible, look for a second hand D40. It’s a better camera, seriously.

I have a polarising filter too, not that I can use it indoors. Low light is enough of a struggle already.

I use Adobe Lightroom 2 to develop my photos. It’s awesome – you will never use photoshop / bridge again once you have tried it. I do have CS5 available for more serious tweaking.
